The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Business/Transportation or similar, 3-5 years of supervisory experience in transportation, and strong proficiency with Excel and dispatch systems. You will maintain strong customer relationships and ensure DOT/EPA compliance as part of a hands-on operations team.

  • Resolve delivery/scheduling issues through timely communication with customers and drivers.
  • Handle payroll, billing, and post-accident reviews; use transportation management systems for data capture.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and all regulations; promote safety.

Job description

This position will work on-site in Laredo, TX. Schedule: Monday - Friday. Hours: 7:00A - 4:00P. This position is responsible for the direct management and supervision of a fleet of truck drivers to include compliance with DOT regulations, company policy, employee performance and retention, and efficient and effective movement of our customer's freight. This position is on-site with the customer requiring daily interaction and relationship management with the key customer contacts.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and provide leadership to build and maintain a strong team through effective communications, recruiting, training, coaching, counseling, appraising and rewarding. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Manage driver performance and activities. Direct and schedule driver's work. Plan, assign, and distribute work to avoid hours of service violations while coordinating loads, equipment and backhauls to achieve maximum utilization of the fleet.
  • Manage work assignments. Develop daily delivery plan utilizing equipment, manpower and other resources to ensure an effective, efficient operation. Organize, plan and implement transportation solutions for assigned customers that utilize the best cost option to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and resolve delivery and scheduling problems through timely communication with customers, drivers, vendors and other Ruan locations.
  • Perform additional administrative functions to include payroll, billing, driver counseling, post-accident reviews. Properly use the Ruan transportation management systems to ensure all required operational data is accurately captured in a near real-time manner.
  • Ensure compliance with D.O.T., OSHA, EPA, and all federal and state regulations, as well as company rules and policies. Monitor, train and promote safety in all areas of dispatch.
Qualifications

Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics or equivalent work experience.Experience: 3-5 years of recent supervisory experience in transportation or similar industry/work environment; supervising and leading a transportation team consisting of drivers and office staff.

  • Demonstrated experience leading, directing, communicating change and developing a team strongly desired.
  • Experience conducting business using multiple software systems and processes.
  • Strong skill base and comfort with technology including Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and routing or dispatching systems.
