Job summary

Mead School District is seeking a Paraeducator 1:1 Student Support at Prairie View Elementary in Spokane, WA. The role provides individualized assistance to an assigned student with an IEP/health plan and related documents under certificated staff supervision.

The position runs 6.25 hours per day from 8:45 am to 3:30 pm, with duties including implementing plans, assisting with instruction, and ensuring safety and inclusion throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current first aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain promptly.
• Completed at least 2 years of study totaling 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits or higher; OR an associate degree or higher.
• Completed and passed the ETS ParaPro Praxis Assessment (qualifying score).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, individualized support to the assigned student(s) across classrooms and common areas.
• Follow and implement the student’s IEP, health plan, and other mandated procedures under supervision.
• Assist with transitions, sensory regulation, daily living skills, and participation in school routines.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and collaborate with teachers, nurses, and staff.
• Offer first aid in case of illness or injury and report accidents to the building office.
• Support inclusion and promote student independence and safety throughout the day.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Two years of college coursework (72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits)
