Job summary

Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is leading the Interior Communications (IC) deckplate crew aboard the USS Harry S. Truman during the RCOH at Newport News Shipbuilding.

This on-site leadership role oversees the IC crew, coordinates with the prime contractor and government representatives, and drives the ship check, tagging, and installation sequence. The ideal candidate has Navy carrier or shipyard availability experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to report progress to the MIT

Qualifications

• Experience leading technicians on Navy carrier or shipyard availability or RCOH.
• Familiarity with shipboard Interior Communications or C4I systems.
• Willingness to work on-site daily at the shipyard.
• Strong communication and coordination with prime contractor, subcontractors and government reps.
• Ability to track labor hours and production status.

Responsibilities

• Lead, schedule, and supervise the Akima IC crew on the deckplate at Newport News Shipbuilding.
• Coordinate daily with the prime lead, other subcontractors, and government IC deckplate lead.
• Oversee ship check, tagging and cable identification, removals, and installation.
• Run safety and quality in shipyard environments and ensure compliance with OSHA shipyard rules.
• Track labor hours, production status, and issues; provide status reporting to the MIT Portfolio Manager.
• Support recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding of IC crew.
