Job summary

Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) seeks Laborers to support IC removal and installation on the USS Harry S. Truman RCOH at Newport News Shipbuilding. Work includes ship check, tagging, cable ID, and material moves in an active shipyard, including a Suffolk warehouse. Must obtain shipyard access and be on-site daily.

Position requires physical tasks, PPE, and teamwork. Competitive benefits apply under the DOL Wage Determination.

Qualifications

The candidate must obtain and maintain base access and Newport News Shipbuilding badging.
Must be willing to work on-site daily at the shipyard.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and work safely in a team.
Ability to use hand tools and perform physical shipboard tasks.
Preferred: shipyard or Navy shipboard experience, and current or recent HII-NNS badging.

Responsibilities

Assist technicians with ship check, tagging, and cable identification under direction.
Move materials, tools, and removed IC equipment between sites and the Suffolk warehouse.
Support space preparation, housekeeping, and restoration.
Follow shipyard safety rules and PPE requirements.
Assist with inventory and basic documentation of removed equipment.
Maintain a clean and safe work area and report hazards.
Support turn-in of removed equipment to the Suffolk Akima warehouse.
