American Cruise Lines is hiring Deckhands for the 2026 season to work aboard ships and ensure a safe, seamless voyage for guests. This temporary, full-time exempt position lasts up to 28 weeks and offers travel, room and board, uniforms, and training.

Responsibilities include handling lines and equipment, standing watches, assisting guests, and performing extensive cleaning and logistics tasks. Successful candidates must be 18+, eligible to work in the U.S., and pass pre-employment drug testing.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder.
  • Pre-employment drug test required for shipboard employees including marijuana.
  • Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited while on duty.
  • Grooming standards apply; temporary employment not to extend beyond 28 weeks.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a professional attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Handle lines, gangways, anchors, and marine equipment under Captains and Mates.
  • Perform daily exterior cleaning, line handling, and logistics support; stand helm watches.
  • Stand gangway and deck watches including security, maintenance, and passenger assistance.
  • Load and unload guest luggage, ship stores, garbage, and daily tasks.
  • Clean exterior decks, verandas, windows, furniture, and marine spaces.
  • Wash, dry, and fold ship laundry.
  • Maintain exemplary grooming and uniform appearance.
  • Be available to assist guests and crew at all times.
  • Rotate through day-night watch with approximately 12-hour daily shifts.
