Job summary

American Cruise Lines is hiring Deckhands for the 2026 season to help ensure safe, seamless voyages aboard our ships along America’s rivers and coasts. This is a temporary onboard position for 28 weeks with a strong emphasis on guest service and professional presentation.

You will perform duties on deck, assist with lines and gangways, and support daily operations while coordinating with Captains and Mates. This entry-level role offers a pathway into the cruise hospitality industry.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • American citizen or Green Card holder
  • Pre-employment drug testing required
  • Temporary position up to 28 weeks; grooming standards outside tattoos/piercings

Responsibilities

  • Handle lines, gangways, anchors, and marine equipment under Captain/Mate guidance
  • Daily exterior cleaning, line handling, and logistic support; assist helm watches
  • Stand gangway and deck watches for security, maintenance, and passenger assistance
  • Load/unload guest luggage and ship stores; manage daily logistics
  • Clean exterior decks, verandas, windows, furniture, and spaces
  • Wash, dry, and fold ship laundry
  • Maintain grooming and uniform appearance
  • Be available to assist guests and crew
  • Rotate through day–night watches with ~12-hour shifts
