Job summary

Ingram Marine Group is seeking entry level and experienced deckhands to support fleeting operations in Columbus, KY. You must have a driver’s license and be ready to work on various schedules (21/21, 14/7, 7/7) with transport to and from hitches.

Responsibilities include tow building, vessel housekeeping, locking, rigging, and safety drills. Expect outdoor work, potential confined spaces, and a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Ability to work away from home for extended periods (21, 14, or 7 day hitches).
• Must be able to read and write English to meet USCG regulatory requirements.
• Must obtain a valid TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
• Be able to lift and carry up to 110 pounds for up to 1000 feet.
• Be able to work in confined spaces often entered through a manhole.

Responsibilities

• Assist deck crew in tow building (laying wires, tighten ratchets, sweep and shovel barges).
• Daily vessel housekeeping (sweeping, mopping and cleaning crew living quarters).
• Assist with locking.
• Carry rigging (ratchets, wires and straps); pumps, hoses and lines.
• Work outdoors for extended periods in heat/cold and rain/snow.
• Check barges for water and leaks; climb into confined spaces when needed.
• Upkeep of vessel appearance (washing, chipping and painting).
• Assist the Engineer as requested.
• Practice safe crew, vessel and tow operation using Ingram safety systems.
• Participate in safety drills and audits.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
