Deckhands play a vital role in preparing barges and equipment for loading and unloading cargo in a marine environment. This position involves hands‑on work outdoors, rotational shift schedules, and the opportunity to be part of a respected and safety‑focused organization.

Responsibilities
  • Handle lines and cables to secure and release crane rigs to and from barges and vessels
  • Inspect cables and rigging components on the crane deck for safety and functionality
  • Perform minor maintenance on equipment and machinery as needed
  • Provide clear directional signals to crane operators during operations
  • Lubricate crane buckets to ensure smooth operation
  • Assist in drafting barges and managing barge positioning
  • Open and close barge covers as required
  • Conduct general rigging and shifting of barges
  • Maintain cleanliness and uphold safety standards on decks, barges, and ship holds
  • Fuel equipment and cranes as necessary
  • Perform general upkeep and cleaning of the crane rig
  • Report all incidents promptly following company protocols
  • Support and participate in company safety initiatives
