Job summary

Rose Debate Institute in Sunnyvale is seeking instructors to lead afterschool public speaking and debate programs for elementary and middle school students. You will be paid for instruction, preparation, and meeting hours, with sessions scheduled around your classes and a paid training period.

Ideal candidates are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program, have strong communication skills, excellent time management, and experience with public speaking.

Job description

Join the Rose Debate team, where you'll be offered flexibility in scheduling, competitive pay, and most importantly, a close-knit team of fellow instructors! You'll be paid for instruction, preparation, and meeting hours. Hiring on a rolling basis.

• 3 sessions/week, 60-75 minutes each, scheduled around your classes
• Commuter assistance for getting to sites
• Sites near Stanford, SCU, and SJSU, and across the South Bay Area.

Instructor Role: After completing a paid training, instructors use our proprietary curriculum to teach public speaking and debate afterschool programs to elementary and middle school students throughout the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Boston. Ideal for anyone looking to develop their communication and leadership skills, and especially anyone looking to join the policy, law, education, or related fields.

Preferences

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor program (or in the workforce).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management and organization.
• Comfortable with and proficient in public speaking.

Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with kids.
• Speech and debate / mock trial / model UN or other competitive speaking background.
• Majoring in Communications / Education or a related subject (all majors accepted).
• Commit to at least three 75 minute sessions per week in Fall 2026.
