Education Unlimited is seeking a Public Speaking Instructor in Washington, DC. The role includes guiding students through the curriculum focused on speech delivery and debate, providing feedback, and assisting with administrative tasks and supervision.
Ideal candidates will have a strong teaching background, 2+ years of experience in public speaking education, and a Bachelor's degree, preferably with an advanced degree. This position encourages a passion for helping students develop their public speaking skills.
$1410 - possible travel stipend
Education Unlimited is the national leader in providing public speaking summer programs for students grades 4‑12. The curriculum is taught over a week on a college campus and includes debate, persuasive speaking, and an elective.
The Public Speaking Instructor will guide students through the Education Unlimited Public Speaking curriculum to help them become more clear, confident, and effective speakers. Instructors will teach rotating classes in delivery and/or debate; on‑campus instructors will also teach an elective (Impromptu Speaking, Negotiations, Policy Debate, Storytelling) in the afternoons or evenings.
In addition to teaching, instructors will provide one‑on‑one feedback sessions, lead a showcase at the end of camp, track student work, and hand deliverables to the camp director and EU home office.
On‑campus instructors should assist the camp director with active supervision, recreational activities, and administrative tasks. They should be mature, reliable, and work well with fellow staffers, act as mentors, and help lead field trips and excursions. Instructors are responsible for the health and safety of students and for fulfilling instructional objectives.
