Job summary

Elms College seeks a Dean of the School of Nursing to provide strategic direction, oversight of academic programs, accreditation and compliance, student outcomes, and external partnerships. The Dean reports to the VPAA and collaborates with other college leaders to advance the School’s mission.

The role emphasizes leadership across faculty development, budget oversight, curriculum planning, and interaction with accrediting bodies. Commitment to inclusion and excellence guides all activities.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Nursing and a strong scholarly record suitable for tenured rank.
• Minimum of five years of progressive academic/administrative leadership in a School of Nursing.
• Understanding of undergraduate and graduate nursing education needs.
• Proven track record of securing federal/state/private grants.
• Experience with budgeting, faculty/staff development, and external relations.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the School of Nursing and its programs, ensuring excellence in teaching and student outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies (CCNE, MA BORN, NONPF) for nursing programs.
• Oversee resource allocation, budgeting, and external partnerships to advance the School's mission.
• Lead curriculum development and oversight of faculty workloads, hiring, and development.
• Promote diversity, inclusion, and community engagement in collegial and academic activities.
• Represent the College and SON to external stakeholders regionally and nationally.
