Dean of Students
Primary Purpose
Under the direct supervision of a School Principal, to assist administrators, teachers, parents and students in resolving behavioral and disciplinary problems in a consistent manner.
Essential Functions
- The Dean of Students has the primary responsibility for providing academic, social, emotional, and behavioral support services to students and staff.Themainrolesaretoprovidesupport towards students' academic growth, ensuring the effective delivery of the instructional program.
- Oversee matters related to student social and emotional growth and development.
- Assist the administrative team in the implementation of a positive, inclusive, safe learningenvironmentwithhighexpectationsfor all.
- Works with teachers, school counselors, andrelated service personnel to identify skills and strategies to assist student(s) having difficulty meetingbehavioralexpectations,and/ortoenrich theiracademic cognition.
- Coordinatorwithparentstoimplementeffective behavioralstrategiesbetweenhomeandschool connections.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student discipline, bullying, sexual harassment, etc.
- Knowledge of student behavior management techniques.
- Knowledge of dispute resolution techniques and ability to engage in dispute resolution.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally an in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:
- NJ State Certification Principal.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education
Bachelor's and Masters Degree an accredited college or university.
Experience
- Successful experience working with children at risk.
- Successful experience developing and implementing professional development programs relating to non-academic student behavioral issues preferred.
