Job summary

North Carolina Central University seeks a Dean for the School of Library and Information Sciences. The role provides strategic direction, oversees faculty and programs, and partners with university leadership to advance information studies and computing.

The Dean will lead accreditation efforts, foster diversity, and drive initiatives across graduate and undergraduate programs while supporting student success and community impact.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Library or Information Science or closely related discipline, sufficient for tenured full professor.
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible administrative and leadership experience in higher education.

Responsibilities

• Foster collegial environment among faculty and staff to achieve School goals.
• Represent SLIS to the university community, other departments, and national organizations.
• Monitor external environment for use of new technologies and resources.
• Develop organizational models and allocate human resources to meet School goals.
• Recruit, admit, online programs, graduate assistants, and retain excellent faculty.
• Set budgets and allocate resources to meet community needs.
