Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–Madison invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS). The Dean provides strategic leadership to 250+ faculty and 800+ staff across 14 departments, guiding academic programs, research, extension and outreach in alignment with the land‑grant mission.

As chief academic officer, the Dean collaborates with UW–Madison leadership, state and federal partners, and stakeholders to steward a $250M budget

Qualifications

• Doctorate required in a discipline relevant to CALS/Dean role.
• A record of scholarly achievement and potential for tenure at UW–Madison.

Responsibilities

• Provide personnel oversight for the College and recruit diverse faculty and staff.
• Lead instructional, research, extension and outreach missions of CALS.
• Serve as chief academic officer and participate in Deans Council.
• Oversee budget, long-range planning and advancement activities.
• Foster inclusive climate and cross-campus collaboration.
