Job summary

State of Nevada's Aging and Disability Services Division in Las Vegas is seeking a Sign Language Interpreter/Translation Specialist to produce ASL video translations of printed, web, and video materials for state government agencies.

The role emphasizes Deaf Interpreter certification (RID CDI, BEI DI, or Utah), sight translation, and outreach to agencies on interpretation best practices, including ethics and compliance with state laws. Collaboration and technology comfort are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in any field
• Current and valid Deaf Interpreter certification (RID CDI, BEI DI, Utah, etc.) in good standing
• Registration with the Nevada Interpreter/CART Registry (or within 30 days)
• Experience translating written/video materials into ASL
• Experience interpreting in government settings
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

• Produce video translations into ASL of printed, web, and video materials for state government
• Provide outreach to State agencies on interpreting and communication access
• Create videos for dissemination and advise on interpreter qualifications and scopes of practice
• Interpret for public, state-sponsored events as needed
• Adhere to NAD RID Code of Professional Conduct
