Job summary

Ampersand Therapy is hiring an itinerant Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist for the 2026–2027 school year in the Seattle WA area. This is an in-person, school-based, full-time role, with a schedule roughly 8:00 AM–3:30 PM and travel between assigned school sites.

You will provide specialized instruction, assess communication and academic needs, develop IEPs, adapt materials, and collaborate with families, interpreters, audiologists, and teachers to ensure access for students who are deaf or

Qualifications

  • Valid state teaching credential with a Deaf and Hard of Hearing endorsement.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in deaf education, special education, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting students across multiple grade levels preferred.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel between school sites.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Assess students’ communication, language, academic, and accessibility needs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Adapt curriculum and classroom materials to support student access.
  • Consult with general education teachers and school teams regarding accommodations.
  • Support the use of hearing technology, assistive devices, and communication systems.
  • Collaborate with families, interpreters, audiologists, and related service providers.
  • Maintain accurate progress notes, service records, and educational documentation.
  • Travel between assigned school sites as needed.
