Job summary

Ampersand Therapy is hiring a full-time Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher for a Montgomery, AL school setting for the 2026-2027 year. You’ll empower students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing through specialized instruction and collaboration with teachers and service providers.

You will develop IEPs, assess learners, and use data to guide instruction while supporting communication skills across spoken language and sign language.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher with endorsement in Hearing Impairment.
• Endorsement in Hearing Impairment preferred/required.
• Experience working with students with hearing loss in a school setting is preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Develop and implement IEPs in compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Conduct assessments and use data to guide instructional decisions.
• Support development of communication skills, including spoken language and sign language.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instruction.
• Work with related service providers (e.g., audiologists, SLPs).
• Provide training and support to staff regarding hearing loss and classroom accommodations.
• Monitor and maintain assistive listening devices and hearing technology.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
• Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with IDEA and district policies.
