MITRE's Cyber Operations Division (L510) seeks a visionary Capability Chief Engineer to lead the technical strategy and development of SOCs, threat hunting, and analytics. This senior leader will guide capabilities, mentor staff, and drive autonomous solutions across MITRE’s FFRDC programs, collaborating with division leaders and sponsors to ensure mission-relevant outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 10 years with a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 7 years’ experience.
• Deep technical expertise in Defensive Cyber Operations with hands-on experience in SOCs, threat hunting, detection analytics, malware analysis, cyber deception or adversary engagement.
• Demonstrated ability to influence strategic decisions in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mentoring experience across staff levels.

Responsabilités

• Lead technical quality efforts across the department's work programs and labs.
• Drive capability development and stewardship of infrastructure and frameworks.
• Mentor staff and provide technical career guidance across the division.
• Collaborate with Division CE and sponsors to align capabilities with mission needs.
• Provide direct sponsor contributions with measurable impact in SOCs, threat hunting, and analytics.
• Present complex trade studies balancing cost, schedule, and risk.
