SLB New Energy & Industrial is seeking a Sustaining Mechanical Engineer to support the engineering manager with sustaining projects for data center modules. You will coordinate with design, manufacturing and quality teams to implement design changes and ensure product quality, reliability and safety.

Responsibilities include reviewing mechanical designs, creating technical reports, and maintaining design intent while addressing cost and schedule impacts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs.
• Experience with GA drawings, piping and structural designs.

Sustaining Mechanical Engineer

The Sustaining Mechanical Engineer supports the Engineering Manager in a variety of sustaining engineering activities following the initial release of engineering deliverables. This role works closely with key stakeholders within the Mechanical Engineering Design team to coordinate design updates, resolve technical issues, and support ongoing project and manufacturing requirements.

The Sustaining Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting Manufacturing, Design Engineering, and Quality teams in the execution of the mechanical and piping systems associated with large-scale data center modules. This accountability spans the construction, assembly, factory testing, and delivery phases of the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include reviewing, modifying, checking, and approving mechanical designs and drawings; facilitating effective communication across internal and external interfaces; and ensuring that all mechanical systems and components meet customer requirements for quality, reliability, efficiency, safety, and performance.

The Sustaining Mechanical Engineer plays a critical role in supporting plant operations throughout manufacturing, inspection, repair, rework, and delivery activities. This position provides technical leadership and engineering support to ensure issues are resolved efficiently, design intent is maintained, and project objectives are successfully achieved.

Responsibilities

• Take instructions and guidance from Engineering Manager on sustaining projects for data centre.
• Work with design, manufacturing and quality teams to identify design changes and implement them in part numbers and drawings.
• Assist in identifying and organizing requirements. Apply relevant usability procedures and principles.
• Analyze, design, develop, maintain products
• Provide timely corrective actions on defects.
• Conduct or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code and other artifacts. Contribute to design standards and support design re-use.
• Continually evaluate engineering approaches and risks.
• Keep abreast of novel technical concepts and markets. Adopt new practices readily to develop innovative and low-cost products.
• Create technical reports and presentations. Expand informal network throughout the organization.
• Ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs while managing impact to quality, cost, or schedule.
• Makes decisions independently on technical problems and methods and represents the organization in meetings with design engineering team to resolve important questions.
• Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

Required skill set

• SAP (Taking engineering reports, organizing data, arriving at engineering decisions and suggest recommended actions)
• 3D modelling and drafting
• Interpretation of engineering drawings, PNs and BOMs
• Fluency, both written and verbal, in English.
• Experience in complex GA drawings like structural, piping, complex assemblies, engineering design calculations
• Experience with international industry standards
• Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
• PDF Editor (Adobe, Foxit, or other equivalent)
• Extreme work ethic and maintains high level of quality of work and due diligence.
• Express complex ideas effectively in both individual and group situations.
• Organize and express ideas clearly in written documents.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with a cross-functional team.

Educational: Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or any related Engineering from a recognized university.
