Responsibilities

  • Deliver effective on-the-job training for new hires and current team members, tailoring methods to individual learning styles and needs.
  • Support daily operational flow by working with cartons and pallets across distribution center areas.
  • Execute core warehouse functions: Receiving, Sorting, and Loading with safety and documentation in mind.
  • Provide direction and support as directed by Leads or Managers; reinforce operational directives.
  • Coach for performance and development through informal and formal evaluations with actionable feedback.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as printing/tracking learning materials and training sign-offs.
  • Conduct behavioral observation walks and safety walks.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and address unsafe conditions; reinforce safety standards during training and operations.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with operations and HR to identify skills gaps and develop training plans; support automation training and adoption (e.g., driverless forklifts, AMRs).

The Distribution Center Trainer is responsible for providing training to team members to safely and efficiently unload, sort, and load cartons and pallets in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions
  • Deliver Effective On-the-Job Training: Lead hands-on training for both new hires and existing team members, ensuring thorough understanding of processes, safety protocols, and performance expectations. Tailor training approaches to individual learning styles and operational needs.
  • Support Daily Operational Flow: Actively work cartons and pallets across all functional areas of the distribution center, demonstrating best practices and setting a high standard for productivity, safety, and accuracy.
  • Execute Core Warehouse Functions:
    • Receiving: Efficiently unload inbound pallets and/or cartons, verifying shipment accuracy.
    • Sorting: Organize and palletize cartons according to destination or workflow needs.
    • Loading: Load pallets securely onto outbound trailers, following proper safety and documentation procedures.
  • Provide Direction and Support: Execute tasks based on priorities set by Leads or Managers. Reinforce operational directives and serve as a trusted extension of leadership within the workflow.
  • Coach for Performance and Development: Conduct informal and formal performance evaluations. Deliver actionable feedback and ongoing coaching to drive improvements in associate productivity, quality, and safety behavior.
  • Administrative tasks as needed: printing and organizing learning materials, tracking training sign-offs .
  • Conduct behavioral observation walks and safety walks.
  • Champion a Proactive Safety Culture: Promote and model a safety-first mindset. Ensure completion of Behavioral Observation Surveys (BOS), identify and immediately address unsafe conditions, and reinforce all safety standards during training and daily operations.
  • Drive Change and Continuous Improvement: Act as a catalyst for positive change by identifying process inefficiencies, recommending improvements, and fostering a culture of learning, adaptability, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with operations & human resources to identify critical skills gaps and create training plans with human resources to address them.
  • Automation Training & Adoption Support Train and coach team members on the safe and effective interaction with automated material handling systems, including driverless forklifts (AGVs/AMRs) and automated offloading equipment. Reinforce proper procedures, troubleshoot basic issues, and promote adherence to safety and operational standards to ensure successful adoption and consistent performance within an automated environment.
Qualifications
  • 1+ years warehousing or training experience
  • Ability to learn and train on various tasks required in a DC environment
  • Prior experience in training, mentoring, or team leadership strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of SOPs, and safety standards
  • Strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in English - Must be able to read, write and communicate in English
  • Ability to lead by example and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and solutions-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds required
