Position Purpose
The DC Area Supervisor leads an hourly team and influences the entire distribution team to perform the fast-paced work required to run the distribution center efficiently, safely, and productively. This role manages team members' responsibilities, ensuring prompt, efficient, and accurate handling of merchandise, and developing team goals. Responsibilities include hiring, evaluation, development, discipline, and termination of hourly associates, with management responsibilities for 20 to 30 associates.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing Process (45%): Ensures operational procedures are followed effectively, recommends process improvements, and evaluates work methods to eliminate inefficiencies.
- Coaching and Developing Associates (25%): Guides and monitors associates to ensure productivity, safety, service, and quality; responsible for training, coaching, feedback, and evaluations; handles hiring, discipline, and terminations; investigates operational errors and recommends corrective actions.
- Drives Results (15%): Maintains inventory accuracy, reviews reports, and identifies improvements in productivity, accuracy, quality, and expenses.
- Business Planning (15%): Coordinates operations to meet performance targets, reviews reports, and plans staffing needs.
- Additional Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Management and Travel
- Typically reports to the Operations Manager.
- Supervises 20-30 associates, including planning, monitoring, and reviewing work, and making recommendations on personnel decisions.
- Overnight travel less than 10%.
Physical and Working Conditions
- Requires physical activity such as walking, standing, lifting, and climbing.
- Located in a comfortable indoor environment with infrequent unpleasant conditions.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum: 18 years old, legally permitted to work in the U.S., flexible shifts, ability to relocate.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree, Microsoft Office skills, Warehouse Management Systems experience, 3+ years supervisory experience.
Education and Experience
- Minimum: High school diploma or GED, 2 years of work experience.
- Preferred: No additional education or experience required.
Leadership and Certifications
