Job summary

TechHuman is seeking a hands-on NoSQL Database Engineer with 5+ years of experience to design, deploy, and support self-managed, on-premises database infrastructure. You will work across MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, and other NoSQL platforms, collaborating with multiple teams to ensure reliability and performance.

The role emphasizes automation, architectural documentation, and mentorship of other DBAs, with involvement in design discussions and production improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on database engineering or administration experience.
• Deep MongoDB platform design, deployment, configuration, operations, replication, backup and high availability.
• Experience with Cassandra cluster deployment, scaling, replication, and production support.
• Redis deployment, configuration, persistence, monitoring, and operational support.
• Experience building and automating database infrastructure, not just routine administration.
• Strong Linux administration, storage, capacity planning, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
• Scripting/automation using Ansible, Terraform, Python, Shell, or similar technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support self-managed on-premises database infrastructure.
• Handle backup/recovery, DR, replication, HA, patching, monitoring, capacity planning, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, and other NoSQL platforms.
• Mentor DBAs and promote NoSQL best practices.

• Participate in technical meetings and design discussions.

Job description

We are seeking a hands-on, technically strong NoSQL Database Engineer with 5+ years of experience supporting self-managed and on-premises database platforms. The ideal candidate will be a builder with experience designing, deploying, automating, and supporting database infrastructure in production.The candidate should be comfortable working across database, Linux, storage, networking, backup, disaster recovery, monitoring, and automation. Strong collaboration and communication skills are important, as this individual will work with database engineers, infrastructure teams, developers, security, compliance, and other technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, configure, and support self-managed and on-premises database infrastructure.
• Support production environments, including backup and recovery, disaster recovery, replication, high availability, patching, monitoring, capacity planning, performance troubleshooting, storage expansion, and incident resolution.
• Support and maintain MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, and other NoSQL database platforms.
• Mentor other DBAs and promote the effective use of NoSQL database technologies.
• Document architecture, deployment procedures, operational standards, backup and recovery processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Participate in technical meetings, design discussions, and project assignments.
• Develop and maintain automation to improve database deployment and operational processes.

Must-Haves

• 5+ years of hands‑on database engineering or administration experience.
• Strong experience with MongoDB, including platform design, deployment, configuration, operations, replication, backup, recovery, and high availability.
• Experience with Cassandra, including cluster deployment, scaling, performance, replication, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Experience with Redis, including deployment, configuration, availability, persistence, monitoring, and operational support.
• Experience building, deploying, and supporting database infrastructure rather than only performing routine database administration.
• Experience with Linux administration, storage, capacity planning, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
• Scripting and automation experience using Ansible, Infrastructure as Code, Python, Shell, Terraform, or similar technologies.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with Neo4j Graph or comparable NoSQL technologies.
• Experience supporting infrastructure upgrades and large‑scale production environments.
• Experience with additional automation or Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
• Experience mentoring other DBAs or technical team members.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and connect database requirements to broader infrastructure and application needs.
