Job summary

UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is seeking two full-time daytime Internal Medicine hospitalists to join the UPMC Shadyside inpatient team in Pittsburgh, PA. They will care for adults with solid tumor malignancies, admit from ED or clinics, and coordinate with outpatient oncology colleagues.

Candidates should be board-certified or eligible in Internal Medicine, eligible for PA license, and comfortable with 12-hour daytime shifts, multidisciplinary rounds, and thorough handoffs.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an Internal Medicine residency.
• Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine.
• Eligibility for an unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and admit patients from the ED, outpatient clinics, and referring hospitals.
• Provide inpatient medical management for adults with solid tumor malignancies.
• Assess and manage cancer- and cancer-treatment related complications.
• Respond to clinical changes and stabilize urgent or emergent conditions.
• Initiate diagnostic evaluations and treatment plans.
• Coordinate consultations with medical and surgical specialists.
• Communicate inpatient plans with outpatient oncology teams.
• Support safe handoffs to the overnight clinical team.
• Collaborate with oncologists, APPs, nursing, pharmacy, and care management.
• Participate in multidisciplinary discussions and education of trainees.
