Job summary

UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh, PA seeks two full-time daytime Solid Tumor Oncology Hospitalists who are board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine to provide inpatient care for adults with solid tumor malignancies. This daytime-only role features 12-hour in-hospital shifts with no overnight duties.

The physicians will evaluate and manage hospitalized cancer patients, coordinate with outpatient oncology teams, and ensure smooth handoffs at shift end, while contributing to education and

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree required.
• Completed Internal Medicine residency.
• Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine.
• Pennsylvania medical license eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and admit patients from the emergency department, outpatient oncology clinics, and referring hospitals.
• Provide inpatient medical management for adults with solid tumor malignancies.
• Assess and manage cancer- and treatment-related complications.
• Respond to clinical changes and stabilize patients.
• Initiate diagnostic evaluations and treatment plans.
• Coordinate consultations with medical and surgical specialists.
• Maintain clear handoffs to the overnight team.
• Communicate with outpatient oncology teams regarding inpatient plans.
