Job summary

UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh is seeking two full-time daytime Solid Tumor Oncology Hospitalists for UPMC Shadyside to provide inpatient care for adults with cancer. Board-certified or board-eligible Internal Medicine physicians will work daytime 12-hour shifts with no overnights.

Responsibilities include evaluating admitted patients, coordinating with outpatient oncology teams, and ensuring smooth handoffs to the overnight clinical team while maintaining multidisciplinary

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.
• Completed Internal Medicine residency.
• Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine.
• Eligibility for an unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and admit patients from the emergency department, outpatient oncology clinics, and referring hospitals.
• Provide inpatient medical management for adults with solid tumor malignancies.
• Manage oncology-related complications including infection, febrile neutropenia, sepsis, pain, electrolytes, and treatment toxicities.
• Coordinate consultations with appropriate medical and surgical specialists and handoff to overnight team.
• Collaborate with medical oncologists, APPs, nursing, pharmacy, care management, and ancillary teams.
