Job summary

Washington City Mission is seeking a full-time cook/shift leader to prep and serve meals, assist in safe kitchen operations, and report to the Food Services Manager.

You will work alongside residents and volunteers, plan menus, and prepare meals for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner, while ensuring proper food handling and safety. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1+ year cooking experience, ServSafe certification, and a heart for ministry.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1+ year cooking experience.
• ServSafe certification or sanitation coursework with local health department.
• Additional coursework in food service or culinary arts preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook shift appropriate meals (breakfast/lunch/dinner).
• Make prep lists and prep for next meal.
• Work with residents assigned to kitchen.
• Properly use, clean and store equipment.
• Put away orders and donations; ensure proper food handling and storage.
• Assist with menu planning.
• Observe health and safety standards per Washington County Health Department, USDA and OSHA.
• Take and report meal counts daily.
• Other duties as assigned.
