City Union Mission seeks a kitchen cook to maintain health standards and prepare nutritious meals for shelter guests, staff, and volunteers. The role involves assisting with daily sack lunches, coordinating with various teams, and supervising volunteers to ensure clean, safe kitchens.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and quantity cooking experience; candidates must be willing to work 8-hour shifts, lift up to 50 lbs, and drive to campuses.

Competenze

• Be able to obtain a Manager’s level Food Safety certification within 90 days.
• Demonstrate the highest standards of hygiene and knowledge of health rules.
• Must have quantity cooking experience and love to cook.

• Maintain Health Department standards for cleanliness in kitchens at all times.
• Follow weekly kitchen menus and obtain approval before changes.
• Help prepare sack lunches daily.
• Exercise food safety; discard suspect foods.
• Work cooperatively with kitchen, warehouse, and shelter staff.
• Host volunteers and supervise cleanup by shelter guests.
• Consult with Food Service Administrator on issues; may work holidays.
• Track meal counts and record food donations.
• Open/close kitchens as scheduling dictates.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
