Job summary

Neighborhood House Charter School (NHCS) in Dorchester, MA, seeks a Day Porter to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment. The role supports daily cleaning, building upkeep, event setup, restocking supplies, and responses to facilities needs.

The position is based at the Queen Street Campus, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., hourly pay range $26.49-$32.57, temporary leave-replacement with potential to become permanent.

Qualifications

• Requires 5 years of custodial/cleaning experience.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Ability to operate machinery safely.
• English language proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cafeteria areas neat, clean and sanitary.
• Follow procedures for trash storage and disposal.
• Keep all school areas clean and sanitary (inside and outside).
• Perform cleaning duties including moving furniture and floor care.
• Maintain regular cleaning schedules for floors, boards, carpets and restrooms.
• Assist with inventory of cleaning supplies and restock as needed.
• Report maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Set up and tear down facilities/equipment for events.
• Ensure exits and safety equipment are functioning during occupancy.
