Job summary

Codman Academy Charter Public School is hiring a Day Porter to support daily cleanliness, safety, maintenance, and campus appearance across the Lower/Middle School and Upper School. The role requires ongoing attention to facilities while students are present, and includes outdoor care of the microforest and rain gardens.

The Day Porter will perform routine cleaning, minor maintenance, event setup, and deliveries, reporting maintenance concerns to leadership.

Qualifications

• Prior custodial, porter, facilities, maintenance, landscaping, or related experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and identify work that needs to be completed without waiting for direction.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, organization, and detail.
• Ability to move regularly between LMS and US during the workday.
• Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance and willingness to learn appropriate care practices for rain gardens and the microforest.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and appearance of LMS and US buildings and common areas throughout the school day.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and respond to spills promptly.
• Assist with setup for meetings and events, and receive/deliver supplies as needed.
• Care for Codman Academy's microforest and nine rain gardens daily, including watering and weed control.
• Monitor exterior grounds, pick up litter, and maintain safe, welcoming outdoor areas.
• Follow safety procedures, store chemicals properly, and report hazards immediately.
• Communicate facility needs regularly to the Chief of Staff/designee.
