Job summary

The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center is seeking a Prep & Line Cook to join the Café team in Saint Louis, MO. This full-time position (35 hours/week) runs Monday through Friday daytime with benefits, starting at $18.50 per hour.

Under supervision, you will perform various prep, cooking, and cleaning tasks to keep the kitchen efficient and delivering dishes to patrons. Responsibilities include following the Kitchen Manager’s prep list, setting up stations, labeling ingredients, and ensuring

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; culinary school training a plus.
• 2+ years of kitchen experience.
• ServSafe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow the daily prep list created by the Kitchen Manager.
• Setup workstations and ensure all ingredients are stocked for service.
• Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible.
• Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.
• During the 11:00-1:30 Café lunch; prepare simple dishes such as salads, sandwiches, flatbreads, etc.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, etc.
• Ensure all food and other items are prepared and stored properly and adhere to HACCP guidelines to ensure safe and sanitary food production
• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager
• Assist with Catering when needed when there are in house/ eternal events.
