Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician with hands-on experience for a daytime schedule. The role involves collecting blood specimens, ensuring specimen integrity, and providing courteous service in a team-focused laboratory.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, certification in phlebotomy or medical assisting, and at least 6 months of phlebotomy experience. Knowledge of medical terminology and LIS is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Minimum 6 months experience performing phlebotomy preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge and LIS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous, professional service to all laboratory customers and respond promptly to inquiries.
• Collect blood specimens via venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick.
• Educate patients on proper specimen collection.
• Train and orient new employees as assigned.
• Maintain supplies and ensure specimen integrity; report incidents as needed.
