Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join Tri Rivers Musculoskeletal in Mars, PA. Regular travel to the North Hills office may be required. Hours are Monday through Friday, 4 x 10-hour shifts from 7am to 5pm, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays.

The position entails back office and front office duties; prior Medical Assistant experience is preferred. Applicants will be placed based on experience and education on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Front and back office duties experience.
• Comfort with HIPAA and patient information handling.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records in accordance with HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain and manage lab/x-ray reports, complete forms, schedule appointments, verify insurance.
• Prepare and manage charts; keep infection control records; manage supplies.
• Organize patient flow; assist with exams and procedures; collect vitals and history.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, basic labs; document in medical record.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA DoH and health system policies.
• Under physician supervision, administer injectables and vaccines when appropriate.
