Job summary

UPMC's University Family Medicine in Bloomfield is seeking a Medical Assistant to support back office and front office duties with Monday through Friday daylight hours, and no evenings, weekends, or holidays. This role focuses on patient care and clinic operations, including chart preparation, patient flow, phlebotomy and basic testing, HIPAA compliance, scheduling, and data entry into the medical record.

Previous experience is preferred, and salary will be assigned from the Medical Assistant

Qualifications

• Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records per HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referrals, schedule appointments, verify insurance and demographics.
• Prepare patient rooms and manage infection control and inventory.
• Assist patients with transfers, examinations, collecting specimens, and obtaining vitals.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic labs; assist physicians with procedures.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA, PA Dept. of Health; maintain confidentiality.
• Under physician supervision, administer injectable medications and vaccines when appropriate.
