Job summary

UPMC Shadyside seeks two full-time daytime Solid Tumor Oncology Hospitalists to provide inpatient care for adults with solid tumor malignancies. Board-certified or board-eligible Internal Medicine physicians will manage admissions from the ED and outpatient clinics, with coordination of care to outpatient teams during handoffs.

The role features 12-hour in-hospital day shifts, no overnights, and collaboration with oncologists and support staff to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Board-certified or board-eligible Internal Medicine physicians.
• Eligibility for an unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license.
• Experience in hospital medicine or caring for patients with cancer is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and admit patients from the ED, outpatient oncology clinics, and referring hospitals.
• Provide inpatient medical management for adults with solid tumor malignancies.
• Assess and manage acute medical issues related to cancer and its treatment.
• Coordinate consultations with medical and surgical specialists.
• Communicate with outpatient oncology teams regarding inpatient plans.
