Job summary

Kids for the Future in Minneapolis, MN seeks a Contract Day Treatment Group Support for part-time mornings (20 hours per week). You will float between classrooms, schedule coverage for both preschool and elementary Day Treatment, and help plan themes and organize materials to support engaging, therapeutic group activities.

Required: High School Diploma; 2+ years working with young children and 1–2 years with emotionally disturbed children preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred in Social Work, MFT, or Counseling.
• High School Diploma required.
• 1–2 years of experience with emotionally disturbed children preferred.
• 2+ years working directly with young children required.

Responsibilities

The Contract Day Treatment Group Support will provide daily in-group support by both floating between classrooms as needed and scheduling coverage for both the pre-school and elementary Day Treatment Classrooms. Additionally, this individual will also play a primary role in planning themes and organizing materials.

This is a part-time role (20 Hours/Week), working Monday - Thursday in the mornings.

Group Sup port and Skills

• Work with therapists to ensure each group has adequate coverage
• Provide a safe and welcoming environment by ensuring the room, toys, books, and furniture in are in good condition, interesting, clean, and represents the diverse cultural and developmental needs of the clients. Prepare the rooms, ord er supplies, and maintain the space
• Work with group facilitators to provide and lead scheduled group services
• Provide a group environment that demonstrates consistency, respectful communication, safety, predictability, clear limits, and encouragement
• Intervene respectfully, safely, and directly to maintain the children’s physical and emotional safety and use therapeutic approaches to help prevent aggressive, destructive, and harmful behavior
• Ability to use and apply therapeutic methods learned through the Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) which includes verbal de-escalation and therapeutic holds
• Care coordination between team members regarding group work and specific child needs/strengths
• Observe child behavior in classroom settings
• Provide fill in support to cover group settings when needed

Documentation

• Document frequency and types of interventions used in group (skills, restrictive procedures
• Timely response of communications from the program director, the supervisor, or program support to ensure clear communication throughout the program
• E nsure Minnesota and HIPAA data privacy requirements are followed

Supervision and Professional Development

• Attend weekly supervision and case consultation, and identify questions for consultation and supervision
• Attend debriefing meetings at the end of each group session
• Attend team meetings
• Maintain required CEUs including first aid, CPR certification, and CPI certification

Requirements

• Ability to work 20 hours a week, Monday - Thursday, in the mornings (8:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work , Marriage and Family Therapy, or Professional Counseling is strongly preferred
• High School Diploma is required
• 1-2 years of experience working with severely emotionally disturbed children and providing therapeutic groups for children is preferred
• 2+ years working directly with young children is required
