Job description

Program Therapist, Casual

Join our growing Mental Health Department at Children’s Minnesota as a casual program therapist. This position primarily serves our partial hospitalization program in Lakeville and may provide individual, family and group therapy, case management, assessment services, crisis intervention, resource mobilization, and triage of psychosocial concerns.

Position Summary

The Program Therapist works within a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive services to patients and families experiencing acute mental health concerns. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing individual, family, and group therapy sessions.
  • Conducting case management and assessment services.
  • Facilitating crisis intervention and resource mobilization.
  • Collaborating with team members to develop treatment goals, assess progress, and complete discharge or transition planning.
  • Assisting with triage of psychosocial, emotional, or behavioral concerns.
  • Picking up a minimum of 2 shifts per month; shifts are weekday 8 AM‑4:30 PM with flexibility for staffing needs.
Qualifications

Required Education / License (Program Therapist 1):

  • Master’s degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, or clinical counseling.
  • State of Minnesota license: LGSW, LADC, LAMFT, LPC, or LP.
  • BLS certification (Basic Life Support).

Required Education / License (Program Therapist 2):

  • Master’s degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, or clinical counseling.
  • State of Minnesota license: LICSW, LMFT, or LPCC.
  • BLS certification (Basic Life Support).

Experience Preferred: One year of work experience as a program therapist or equivalent counseling experience in a healthcare or related pediatric setting (clinical internship experience may be considered).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to manage competing demands in a fast‑paced clinic or hospital environment.
  • Willingness to work under appropriate clinical supervision.
  • High level of professionalism, strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to assess and provide intervention services to children and adolescents in acute crisis or suicidal ideation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Benefits and Compensation

Competitive salary range: $68,755.06–$79,611.12. Eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement and other fringe benefits. Shift differentials or premium pay may apply for night, weekend or on‑call work. Positions require background checks, occupational health assessment, drug screening, and compliance with U.S. Government Form I‑9.
