Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the OR team. The role emphasizes postoperative prep, instrument handling, and close collaboration with surgeons to ensure high-quality patient care.

The position requires successful completion of an accredited surgical technology program, AST credentialing, and current BLS. Schedule is day shift with a generous weekend and weekday structure, supporting our mission of exceptional patient care.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of a specialized and technical field of Surgical Technology.
• Successful completion of an accredited school of surgical technology with required certification as of the date of hire.
• Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification every two years; AST membership and related educational units.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates independent functioning and proficiency in the scrub role in all cases in assigned specialty.
• Prepares the Operating Room for cases; selects and checks case cart and supplies.
• Anticipates needs for equipment and supplies; sets up back table and Mayo tray.
• Assists operative team and responds to surgeon needs during cases; monitors instrument flow.
• Passes and tracks instruments, sutures and supplies; ensures proper labeling and specimen handling.
