Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an OR Support/Perioperative Services assistant to help maintain a clean, aseptic operating room environment and support the surgical team. Responsibilities include preparing rooms, stocking supplies, and assisting with turnover and patient care workflows.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, and BLS/HeartSaver certification within 1 month. Strong English communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with preferred prior OR experience.

Qualifications

• Requires reading, writing and clear English communication.
• Must safely use body mechanics and safety techniques.
• Strong interpersonal skills to support teamwork and patient service.
• Ability to communicate respectfully with patients, families, and staff.
• Preferred healthcare experience in an OR or perioperative setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing Operating Rooms and perioperative areas.
• Ensure timely OR room turnover after procedures.
• Stage case carts with the OR nurse; verify cart completeness.
• Restock, maintain, and replace OR supplies and instruments daily.
• Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the unit and equipment.
