RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Security Officer Lead in New Brunswick, NJ. The role oversees the day shift, ensures safety across patients, visitors, and staff, and balances security with compassionate service.

The position supports policy adherence, incident reporting, and department leadership collaboration. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, NJ Driver's License, and de-escalation certification within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid New Jersey Driver's License.
• Certification for de-escalation training within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred: Minimum one year of customer service, security, or prior military experience.
• Proficiency in keyboarding/data entry and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Bilingual language skills (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, Polish) to effectively communicate with a multilingual community. (Not required.)

Responsibilities

• Lead officer training and record keeping.
• Review all Security Officer reports for completeness, accuracy, and forward them to the Security Manager/Director.
• Ensure officers are in proper uniform and equipment is available and operational.
• Escalate irregular activities and concerns to the Security Leadership Team.
• Represent the department on committees and meetings.
• Assist staff scheduling, monitor overtime, call-outs, and tardiness.
• Conduct patrols and monitor facilities to maintain a secure environment for healthcare operations.
• Provide professional customer service while vigilantly detecting and addressing potential security threats.
• Manage access control systems, perform data entry, and utilize Microsoft Office for incident reporting and administrative tasks.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication abilities with a diverse population.
• Respond to emergencies, participating in crisis de-escalation using certified training techniques.
• Other duties may be assigned as required; responsibilities can change at any time with or without notice.
