Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in Central Jersey Behavioral Health is seeking a part-time Security Officer to maintain a safe, respectful environment for patients, visitors and staff.

The role requires patrolling facilities, monitoring access, conducting weapon screenings, and responding to emergencies while providing professional customer service. A valid New Jersey SORA license, a high school diploma or GED, and a NJ Driver’s License are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and NJ Driver’s License with eligibility to be covered by the organization’s insurance carrier.
• Candidates must have and maintain a valid New Jersey Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) security officer license.
• Applicants with an out-of-state driver’s license must transfer their license and vehicle registration to New Jersey within 60 days of hire.
• Must be able to obtain certification in de-escalation training within 90 days of hire.
• At least one year of customer service or security experience, or prior military service, is preferred.
• Experience with keyboarding, data entry, Microsoft Office, and strong verbal and written communication skills is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct indoor and outdoor patrols to maintain a safe and secure environment.
• Monitor entrances, access control systems, and facility activity, addressing safety concerns.
• Provide professional customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and staff while enforcing policies.
• Perform weapon screenings and control access to designated areas per procedures.
• Respond to emergencies and security incidents, including crisis intervention and de-escalation.
• Complete incident reports and data entry using computer systems and Microsoft Office.
• Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff, and emergency personnel to support a safe environment.
• Patrol the perimeter with a company vehicle.
