Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West invites applications for a Patient Care Technician at Health Park East Surgery Center. Working days, 8 hours per week (0.2 FTE), you will assist with basic nursing care under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include activities of daily living, hygiene, nutrition support, hygiene, vital signs, specimen collection, and accurate documentation, with emphasis on patient comfort and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current BLS/CPR provider required.
• Experience with medical terminology and patient confidentiality preferred.
• Acute care or extended care facility experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living and comfort.
• Assist patients with hygiene activities.
• Provide postmortem care assistance as needed.
• Assist with nutrition, including passing trays and recording intake.
• Measure and record vital signs and patient weight.
• Document care as directed by the RN and maintain confidentiality.
• Communicate observations to the RN using unit systems and paging.
• Perform other duties assigned by the RN to support department efficiency.
