Job summary

Silver Key in Colorado Springs seeks a Nutrition Services Cook to prepare meals and support daily kitchen operations in line with nutritional guidelines and food safety requirements. This role serves Home Delivered Meals, Meals on Wheels, Connections Café, visitors, and staff.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, 3-5 years of related experience, batch cooking experience, and knowledge of food service operations management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 3-5 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in planning and food service operations management.
• Experience in batch cooking.
• ServSafe certification preferred, or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks various types of food in accordance with approved menus and dietary requirements.
• Monitors the quality of raw and cooked food, and materials and supplies.
• Assists with food rotation and inventory to uphold product integrity.
• Coordinates production of hot food for Home Delivered Meals, Meals on Wheels, and Connections Café.
• Assists with menu planning, recipe development, and modifications to meet regulatory and dietary requirements.
• Estimates food, ingredients, and supply needs and costs.
• Inspects supplies, maintains equipment and work areas, ensures safety standards.
• Demonstrates proper cooking techniques and equipment usage to staff and volunteers.
• Provides guidance to staff, volunteers, and students in interactions with vendors and the public.
• Performs additional tasks including dishwashing, cleaning, inventory management, and opening/closing procedures.
