Job summary

North Shore Steel is seeking a dedicated MIG Welder to join our Houston team. You will perform production welding using GMAW processes on steel components, focusing on long and girth seams with 2G and 3G positions.

Reading Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) is essential to ensure welds meet required codes and quality standards. You will read blueprints and weld symbols, set up and adjust equipment based on material type and thickness, and maintain consistent weld quality in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Prior experience with MIG (GMAW) welding in a production environment.
• Ability to read and interpret Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
• Experience welding in 2G and 3G positions on girth seams.
• Ability to read basic blueprints or weld symbols.
• Commitment to safety and quality in a high-volume setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG (GMAW) welding on steel components, including long and girth seams.
• Weld in 2G and 3G positions with consistent quality and penetration.
• Set up and adjust welding equipment based on material type, thickness, and WPS.
• Read and interpret welding docs, blueprints, and weld symbols.
• Maintain weld appearance and quality across high-volume runs.
• Conduct visual weld inspections and perform finishing as needed.
• Keep welding equipment safe and well-maintained; follow safety procedures.
• Meet production targets without compromising quality.
