Job summary

North Shore Steel is seeking a Sub Arc Girth Seam Welder for day shift in Houston. You will operate SAW equipment to weld full-circumference seams on rotating pipe and cylindrical products, ensuring weld integrity per code.

You’ll read WPS, review blueprints, and work closely with Quality and Production teams to address defects and optimize rotation-based welding. Ideal candidates have hands-on SAW experience in API/AWS/ASME environments, strong attention to detail, and the ability to maintain

Qualifications

• Proven experience with Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) on pipe or cylindrical components.
• Solid knowledge of girth seam welding and rotational welding processes.
• Ability to read Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and blueprints.
• Experience in API, AWS, and ASME standards.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate SAW equipment for girth seam welding on rotating pipe.
• Perform full-circumference welds with proper bead profiles.
• Set and adjust welding parameters to meet code requirements.
• Execute starts, stops, and tie-ins with minimal defects.
• Read WPS and weld symbols; collaborate with QA.
