Job summary

The State of Indiana is seeking a Maintenance Technician for New Castle Correctional Facility. The role covers plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds with a weekday day shift from 7am to 3pm. On-site steam plant operations and supervision of incarcerated workers provide unique, hands-on experience.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting trades.
• Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites.
• Ability to fill in for other foreman to ensure operation of the department.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and remediation plans.
• OSHA standards and MSDS knowledge; safety precautions.

Responsibilities

• Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals.
• Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects.
• Oversee and participate in preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities.
• Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Ensure compliance with protective and safety requirements by self and team.
