Job summary

James Madison University’s Facilities Management is seeking a dedicated Housekeeping Team Leader for the day shift. The role oversees a small crew of housekeepers, assigns daily tasks, and ensures cleaning standards across campus facilities.

Regular duties include preparing work orders and coordinating supplies while maintaining safety and quality expectations. The position is full-time, classified staff in the Business Services division, with a starting pay rate of $31,912 and benefits

Qualifications

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding duties.
• Experience performing a variety of housekeeping tasks.
• Ability to work with industrial-strength chemicals and equipment including buffers, scrubbers, and waxers.
• Ability to clean up materials containing bloodborne pathogens.
• Ability to lead a small crew, work with different types of people, and manage time to keep to schedule.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques and basic customer service concepts.
• Basic proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and assistance to a small group of housekeepers during daily activities and special cleaning projects.
• Prepare work orders and requisitions for cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Perform regular and special cleaning of assigned areas.
• Understand and practice all university safety procedures and actively participate in trash/recycling programs.
