Job summary

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services seeks a Housekeeper (1st shift) to maintain clean, safe environments at Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute in Danville, VA.

Responsibilities include cleaning, vacuuming, floor buffing, dusting, trash removal, and bathroom sanitation for patients, staff, and visitors. CHEST certification must be obtained within six months of employment. This is a state employment opportunity with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and follow written instructions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced behavioral health environment.
• Willing to obtain CHEST certification within six months.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sanitation standards daily in assigned areas for patients, staff and visitors.
• Perform housekeeping tasks: cleaning, vacuuming, floor buffing, dusting, trash removal, sweeping, bathrooms.
• Follow directions and complete tasks with minimal supervision after training.
