Job summary

Mars Petcare (Greenies) in North Kansas City, MO is seeking a Utility Operator for day shifts (6am–6:30pm) in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment. The role focuses on packaging, forklift operations, inventory tracking, and supporting basic production, with emphasis on teamwork and adherence to food safety and quality standards.

No prior manufacturing experience is required; military experience and strong work ethic are valued.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Forklift or MHE experience is required (military licensing transferable).
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to guide temporary staff.
• Basic computer skills; iPads or mobile inventory apps a plus.
• Basic math and measuring skills; hands-on physical work.
• Teamwork: cooperative in a structured team; coachable.
• Adaptability to changing production schedules.

Responsibilities

• Move raw ingredients and work-in-progress safely using forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Build, weigh, label pallets for packaging or storage.
• Conduct inventory audits, cycle counts, and documentation.
• Provide informal leadership to temporary associates during daily production.
• Champion Food Safety & Quality culture; maintain sanitary workspace.
• Wear Mars-issued uniforms and PPE; perform basic equipment sanitation.
• Perform simple troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on production machinery.
