Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) in Austin seeks a Food Service Manager II (Control Room Manager) to oversee daily food procurement, storage and distribution for the Food Service Department at the Austin State Supported Living Center.

You will lead staff, ensure food safety and proper meal handling, coordinate training, and manage shifts, with potential overtime and weekend work as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience in the food service department or a control room/warehouse setting.
• 6 months of training, acting as a lead or supervising other employees.
• Must possess valid Texas driver’s license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date.
• Texas Food Manager certification, or Food Protection Manager Certification is required or the ability to obtain within 2 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime.
• Monitors and complies with facility/departmental policies and procedures.
• Assure that all areas of the control room are running smoothly.
• Order food and supplies to meet requirements of the Food Service Department.
• Oversees receiving groceries from the vendor and checks for accuracy of the delivery and inspection of items.
