Job summary

LanceSoft, Inc. in California seeks a Quality Assurance Technologist to support sampling, testing, and documentation for food products.

The role emphasizes adherence to GMPs, HACCP, and regulatory compliance, with hands-on testing, data entry, and record-keeping. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Food Science/biological field, 2+ years of experience (or 6 years without a degree), HACCP and PCQI certifications, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor’s degree (Food Science, Biology, Microbiology or related science) and minimum 2 years’ experience or an additional 4+ years (min 6 years) if no degree.
• HACCP certified required, PCQI certified required, GFSI experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Microbiological, Physical, Chemical and Organoleptic Testing.
• Ensure Safeway policies, procedures, and workplace safety are adhered to.
• Evaluate trends from test results and develop plans to correct deficiencies and communicate these plans to employees and management.
• Implement quality control processes/testing to meet the expectations of Safeway quality standards and ensure that the product(s) are within specification.
• Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Utilize and maintain inventory on laboratory and sanitation supplies.
• Good oral/written communication skills.
• Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
• Must follow current Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Sanitation Practices, Food Safety and Occupational Safety.
• Ability to lift to 50lbs as well as the ability to safely climb ladders and work at elevated heights to perform inspections, cleaning, maintenance, and other job-related tasks

Responsibilities

• Sampling, testing, plating, reading, and recording product test results; troubleshoot out-of-spec results.
• Ensure daily records are kept and maintained.
• Data entry, tracking and interpretation.
• Follow QC Hold Procedures for out-of-spec products.
• Follow SOPs and maintain GMPs, food safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Support 5-S initiative and maintain 5-S rating.
• Calibrate and troubleshoot equipment.
• Review production records and CCPs daily.
• Address customer complaints with production.
• Coordinate HACCP team and training.
• Communicate safety, quality, and efficiency issues with supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
